Built towards the sea

Afissos is 25 km from Volos. It sits in olive groves and looks over the Pagasetic Gulf. It feels like an island, though it is not.

Tradition

Spring and feast day

In the square a spring rises that, by tradition, the Argonauts drank from. On 17 July Agia Marina is celebrated with a village feast. From here you can easily reach the villages of Pelion.

The guesthouse

Irene in Afissos, since 1990

Irene Guesthouse is a family house in Afissos, Pelion. It has been open since 1990 and was renovated in 2020, with quiet rooms, a garden and private parking on the plot.

It is about 30 metres from organised Ampovos beach. Tavernas, cafés and a mini market are a few steps away. It is not a large hotel; it is a guesthouse with a courtyard, olive trees and shade.

Garden

Courtyard, olives and natural shade

The shared courtyard is cleaned every day. The olives and flowers are tended all year, so in summer you sit cool under the pergola and on the balcony.

Each room has its own balcony. Extra umbrellas are available if you want more shade.

Rooms

Studio, Deluxe and two-room

There are studios for two or three guests, larger deluxe rooms and a two-room studio for a family or friends. All have a kitchen or kitchenette, a bathroom and a garden balcony.

The rooms were renovated in 2020. They are simple, clean and quiet — for a stay by the sea, not a city hotel.
